When Mary’s husband gifted her a wardrobe review for her birthday, she wasn’t quite sure what to expect. She mentioned she had just what she needed—no overflowing closets, no mountains of unworn clothes. In fact, she doubted we’d even need the full three hours for our session. But what a delightful surprise we were in for!
As soon as I delved into her petite yet stunning wardrobe, I was captivated. Mary’s collection of pre-loved treasures and beautiful brands was an absolute gem. At moments, I found myself debating my own wardrobe choices, inspired by her curated selection!
Despite her initial scepticism, we not only used every minute of our time together but even went a little over. Creating outfits, trying them on, and chatting about style turned our session into an experience rather than just a service. Mary’s daughter also joined in, adding to the lively atmosphere and even treating me to a lovely cup of coffee. Together, we created an impressive array of versatile outfits. Here are some of the styling tricks we explored during our session:
1. Belts Reimagined
We used belts from dresses to elevate jeans, adding structure and flair to create polished, stylish looks.
2. Seasonal Layering
Mary’s summer dresses took on new life when styled with jumpers, cardigans, or long-sleeve tops and paired with tights. Suddenly, they became year-round wardrobe staples.
3. Mini Dress Magic
Pairing mini dresses over jeans created a chic, casual vibe that felt effortlessly modern and versatile across seasons.
4. Match Game
By coordinating belt and shoe colours, we achieved an understated yet polished look that exuded elegance.
5. Feminine Balancing Act
We played with silhouettes, pairing tailored blazers with relaxed corduroy bottoms. This mix of powerful and soft created outfits that were both dynamic and approachable.
By the end of our time together, Mary had a wardrobe that felt refreshed and exciting. Rediscovering the potential of her pieces reminded her that even a small collection holds endless possibilities when approached with creativity. Whether you’re like Mary—convinced there’s “not much to work with”—or you’re overwhelmed by an overflowing closet, a wardrobe review is an opportunity to transform your style and rediscover the joy in getting dressed every day. Here’s to finding inspiration in the clothes you already own!
